Using OpenBox service in your company

The document collaboration service we promote at Batipi is Box.  As a partner, they make it really easy for us to implement this service in your corporate environment, due to the advanced and open api's available.  There is also a host of 3rd party applications that are already integrated, allowing you to take action like sending a fax, or editing your document online.

What is OpenBox Service?

OpenBox Services, is an open platform that connects data from your Box account with other applications and services across the web.  Pre-built into your box account are a host of services that you can make available, with one click.

Once the web service has been added, you can now right click on any of your files to access the 3rd party service.

Here is an example of some of the OpenBox Services:

  • Zoho - an online productivity suite, that allows you to edit documents and spreadsheets from within your web browser

  • eFax - fax any document directly from your box account

  • Concept Share - collaborate on your designs

  • EchoSign - get your documents signed electronically over the web

  • iPaper - preview any of your Word, Excel, PowerPoint or PDF files directly within your browser

  • Autodesk Freewheel - dynamically renders DWF file data and graphics information, allowing you to view CAD files (2D and 3D) in your browser.

A article by techcrunch on the OpenBox services, describes as follows:

"will enable web developers to create “service actions” on Box.net that allow users to easily load their files into 3rd-party web applications. These service actions will also permit users to transfer their files back to Box.net once they have been edited elsewhere. OpenBox is therefore meant to help transform Box.net into an online file system where users can store the data they want to load into various applications on the web."
