Full text search has been enabled to the file collaboration service we offer at Batipi.  As an example you may not remember the title of a particular file, however, you can remember a phrase or the general topic.  With the search full-text feature, you will save allot of time from guessing what the file was called, or browsing through hundreds, or potentially thousands of your files.

Here's what the VP of Box Engineering Sam Ghods had to say about this new enhancement:

"Full-text search gives a business tremendous insight into their content. As users of existing desktop full-text search products are aware, once you get a taste of full-text search, it’s hard to go back. You are now able to find files not just by the title or description, but by whatever you may recall about the content of the file itself. Since we index all Office formats (including the new docx, xlsx and pptx formats), PDF’s, CSV’s and more, nearly all your business documents are readily searchable. Having this kind of functionality across your entire business is a very powerful tool to help business get more done faster, which is all we’re about here at Box."

Initially, the full text search feature will cover all popular file formats, such as, Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint, PDF's, TXT, CSV files, Box Web Documents.

One of the distinct advantages is that you can also allow any partners, consultants or clients that you have shared folders with, to search the entire full text of any files you have stored in the particular folder.  Other tools like desktop search, are limited to "your desktop", and even powerful search appliances like the Google Search Appliance, restrict searches to users within your company network.
